sound-field reinforcement systems

WOODBURY, MN, (Jun 29, 2009)

Three U.S. schools have been awarded grants through the Be Heard|School Grant program presented by the Calypso School First Foundation (CSFF). Recognizing the importance of hearing and being heard in the classroom, the Be Heard|School Grant will provide schoolwide sound-field reinforcement systems and installation to the three schools awarded the grant.

The Calypso School First Foundation embodies Calypso’s strong commitment to improving student achievement through thoughtful, affordable, and flexible deployment of integrated classroom technology.

The schools listed below were selected from among hundreds of grant applications to receive the school-wide Calypso Systems WCM-RF sound-field reinforcement systems.

1. Holly Grove Elementary School located in Holly Springs, North Carolina Wake County Public School System

2. McWhirter Elementary located in Webster, Texas Clear Creek Independent School District

3. Lawrence Central High School located in Indianapolis, Indiana MSD of Lawrence Township

Through these technology grants, the Foundation will help transform classroom learning for all children and energize teachers and students alike to integrate technology into all aspects of the curriculum.

“The Be Heard|School Grant provides each and every student the opportunity to succeed on a daily basis,” states Rodney Dunklee, Technology Integration Specialist at McWhirter Elementary. “This opportunity to engage and motivate more students would not be possible for our school had we not been awarded this grant. I can’t wait until the fall when we can begin using it!”

“This grant gives students and teachers in every classroom the opportunity to experience how Calypso Systems WCM-RF classroom sound-field reinforcement system can increase student performance,” states Margaret Knox-Ingle, Technology Specialist at Holly Grove Elementary School. “Thank you, Calypso Systems, for providing our school with technology that will help us to meet the evolving needs of 21st century teaching and learning.”

“We were amazed by the number of schools around the country that applied for this grant in its inaugural year. Our review committee was particularly impressed by the way the schools embraced the need for sound-field reinforcement in their classrooms,” said David H. Parish, Ph.D., president of Calypso Systems. “The grantees in these three schools truly represent the best-of-the-best in thinking critically about technology as an integrated part of teaching and learning. Our winners should be incredibly proud of their accomplishments.”
