The elementary school is one of three schools across the nation to receive a “Be Heard” grant from Calypso Systems, a Minnesota-based multimedia technology company that specializes in communication equipment for schools. The grant itself is the equipment and installation of voice amplification systems in 35 classrooms.
Rod Dunklee, technology integration specialist at the school, 300 Pennsylvania, said students will be able to better hear teachers as well as multi-media or Web-based presentations.

Designed to work with Calypso’s CB-5000 and CB-1000 wall-mount controllers, the Smart Block forwards commands at preset times for complete power shutdown, cutting the energy wasted by devices that are plugged in, but not turned on.
