The CSD-500 analog RF tuner brings cable television signals and integrated control to K-12 classrooms and other applications in an affordable and easily integrated package.  Designed to replace and improve upon tuners previously found in VCR’s, the CSD-500 allows standard definition cable television content to take its place along side web content, DVD video, lesson plans, PowerPoint slides and other materials projected onto screens and other displays.

The compact CSD-500 is designed to deploy as an integrated tuner, with no on-board user interface.  Accordingly, TV channel selection is controlled through nearly any type of hand held, wall mount or PC-based remote control.  The CSD-500 responds to IR and Serial commands for numeric channel selection, channel up and down, etc.  Alternatively, commands can be routed over a network to the CSD-500 through Calypso ION or Pro I/O networked controllers.

More than a simple cable television tuner, the CSD-500 is a professional tool that offers cable (channels 2-125), and FM (88.7–107.9 Mhz) reception, channel lock-out, channel selection feedback (RS-232), and an on-screen display for current channel, channel ID, current time and, when in FM Tuner mode, station frequency and ID.  Moreover, the unit stores up to four 24-char messages and one “streaming” text message which can be individually or simultaneously displayed on the screen.
