About Calypso
Calypso Systems is devoted to improving K-12 learning outcomes by making it easier to build, manage and use media-rich classrooms.
Founded in 2005 by a group of media technology veterans, the company’s focus on the creation of innovative and affordable “integrated classroom” products has quickly led to some 20,000 installed classrooms. Calypso products cover a range of classroom needs, including networked control of classroom media devices such as projectors and DVD players, control panels for teachers and administrators, classroom audio amplifiers, wireless classroom microphone systems and various wiring and connectivity tools. In addition to selling individual products through a network of certified installers, Calypso’s ezRoom Classroom Bundle offers districts a complete solution that takes the guesswork out of designing and building integrated classrooms.
Calypso’s mission is driven by the belief that 21st century K-12 education must integrate modern skills, such as technical fluency and collaboration, with traditional curriculum topics, in a manner that is “tuned” to each student’s strengths and interests. These goals can be achieved only with an appropriate mix of classroom technologies, curriculum materials, assessment techniques and teacher training. As part of Calypso’s commitment to 21st Century education, we have established the Calypso School First Foundation, to help motivated teachers and administrators use technology to transform classroom learning for all children. The Foundation currently supports two programs. The Integrated Classroom Grant provides qualifying districts with a full ezRoom classroom, providing them with the opportunity to evaluate a variety of classroom technologies and administrative tools. The Be Heard | School Grant will award full sound reinforcement systems to each of three schools during the 2009/2010 school year.
